Framing and Christmas Garden

Yesterday I took a trip to Welcome Stitchery to pick up two pieces of framing.

First one is Their Song by Blackbird Designs.  Monica did such a great job framing and helping me with the moulding choice.

I also picked up Roses in July.  My friend Karin stitched and framed this back in May and I loved the frame she chose so of course I had to try and duplicate it:))  It's a very small piece (less than 4" square) so I plan on displaying it on an easel.

It's been another warm weekend in Chicago so it's been perfect to spend time in my stitching nest.  I've spent a lot of time working on  Christmas Garden.  I'm about 1/3 finished and this is where I stand.  Sorry for the crappy photo because this piece is so lovely in person.

With the Olympics starting on Friday my stitching group and I are all starting new projects during the Opening Ceremonies with HOPES of finishing them before the closing Ceremonies.  I finally got all the NPI's I was waiting for and now just have to cut the fabric.  I chose Jane Osborn by Priscilla's Pocket.  If you click here you can see what the rest of the group chose.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting with me today.  I always enjoy hearing from you!

Have a great week.

Fabulous Retreat and a couple of finishes

Friday and Saturday my stitching group and I went to a FANTASTIC retreat sponsored by Tomorrow's Heirlooms.  It was held in Downers Grove, IL and the guest designers were Lori (La-D-Da) and Linda (Chessie N Me).  We all had a wonderful time stitching, shopping, laughing and getting to know these very talented designers.  Here are pictures of our retreat projects:

Next is Lori's project:
 La-D-Da
Aren't these two projects the BEST??  I can hardly wait to get mine finished and hanging on my walls!   We were so very fortunate to have these designers come to our area and spend the day with us:))

Since it's been so HOT outside over the last couple of weeks I've spent a lot of time inside stitching and doing some finishing.  I finally started and finished the October Word Play.  I figured since it wasn't cool ouside I could at least think about cooler weather by stitching this Fall design.

I also pulled out my Blackbird Designs stockings from a few years ago and stitched and finished another one.

I'm also working on Christmas Garden by Blackbird and LOVING every single motif.  I was too lazy this morning to take it off the Qsnaps to share a picture but I will on my next post.  It's a great project to work on and with all the individual motifts and  you really feel like it moves quickly:)

Thanks for stopping by and visiting with me today.  I hope you have a wonderful Sunday afternoon and a great week.  Until next time.....

July Cottage and Olympic Project

I hope everyone is keeping cool during this very HOT weather we've been having.  I don't know about you but I'm all ready looking forward to FALL and FOOTBALL!  Summer is my least favorite season, especially when it gets really HOT and HUMID.

I finished up the July cottage just in the knick of time.  I say this everytime I finish the latest one but this is definitely my favorite:))

In keeping with the Patriotic theme I thought I would show you the display I have in my stitching room.

The Olympics will be here at the end of July and I've already picked out my project which I will start during the Opening Ceremonies and HOPEFULLY finish before the Closing Ceremonies.  I'm still waiting for some NPI's to come in but this little beauty measures about 5x8 so it's very doable to finish in the two week period. (FINGERS CROSSED)

I've had this little Blackbird Design in my finished drawer so this morning I decided to make it into a pincushion.  It's filled with crushed walnut shells and trimmed with hand-dyed rick rack by the Victorian Motto Shoppe.

Thanks so very much for your continued visits and WELCOME to my new followers.  I so appreciate all the great comments you take the time to leave.

Stay cool and safe this 4th of July!

Until next time....
